Paul Alwin
Senior Vice President, Operations, c3controls
Paul is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BSME and also received an MBA from Marquette University. Paul’s experience in the industrial automation industry has spanned over 30 years. His responsibilities have included strategic planning, global business management, training, product marketing, R & D, manufacturing, and IT. He is a published author and has been an active participant in NEMA, UL, and IEC, and other industry standards organizations.
Willem Appelo
President, Global Business & Services Group, Xerox

Willem Appelo is president of the Xerox Global Business and Services Group. He was appointed to this position in October 2008 and named a corporate vice president in February 2004. He is also a corporate senior vice president, appointed in December 2007.

Appelo is responsible for the company's worldwide product strategy, marketing & planning as well as product development and engineering. He also is responsible for the company's worldwide supplies business, manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, facilities management and other core corporate functions.

Appelo joined Xerox in 1991. Since then he has held several positions in corporate audit, strategy, and finance for manufacturing and supply chain operations in Europe. In 2000, he championed the worldwide inventory reduction initiative and management process for the corporation and in 2001 returned to Europe to manage the European Manufacturing and Supply Chain.

Prior to joining Xerox, Appelo worked for seven years in the paper industry for two operating companies within Buhrmann Tetterode, NV, Netherlands. From 1984 to 1987 he was financial controller for the Levison Group b.v., and from 1987-1991 he served as director for Papierfabriek Doetinchem b.v., responsible for logistics, IT and finance.

Appelo holds a bachelor's degree in finance from HEAO in Zwolle, Netherlands and an MBA from Delta University in Utrecht, Netherlands. He is chairman of the board for Xerox International Partners, a member of the Rochester Institute of Technology board of trustees and the University of Rochester Medical Center Board.
Terry Bradshaw
Co-host and Analyst, FOX NFL Sunday and NFL Legend.

Andy Chatha
President & Founder, ARC Advisory Group

Chatha has more than 30 years’ experience in enterprise applications and automation as an executive adviser, market analyst, project manager, and software engineer. He provides leadership to the ARC organization and guides its research and client activities. For the past 20 years, Chatha has provided advice and consulting to many leading companies around the world. He served as a speaker at Manufac-turing Executive/Managing Automation’s 2010 Manufacturing Leadership Summit.
Tom Davenport
Professor, Babson College

Voted the third leading business-strategy analyst (just behind Peter Drucker and Tom Friedman) in Optimize Magazine, Thomas Davenport is a world-renowned thought-leader who has helped hundreds of companies revitalize their management practices. He combines his interests in business, research, and academia as the President’s Distinguished Professor in Management and Information Technology at Babson College. Tom earned a Ph.D. from Harvard University in social science and has taught at the Harvard Business School, the University of Chicago, Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, and the University of Texas at Austin.

An agile and prolific thinker, Tom has written or co-authored thirteen best-selling business books and has been a creator and early author for several key business ideas including: knowledge management, human approaches to information management, business process reengineering, and realizing the value of enterprise systems. Bob Dean
Director of the Manufacturing Industry Vertical, Cisco
Robert (Bob) Dean is the Director of the Manufacturing Industry Vertical for Cisco in the US and Canada Business Transformation organization. Bob specializes in integrated supply chain management in the manufacturing industry and the U.S. Department of Defense on a global scale. With over 30 years of experience, he has demonstrated skill in assisting organizations in rethinking the way they do business with a focus on globalization, value creation, extended enterprise collaboration, and operational excellence. He is considered a strategist with a global operational/implementation focus. With over 20+ years of on-the-ground, in-country international experience, Bob has Ex-Patriot experience in London (5 years) and Amsterdam (2 years) as well as managing client engagements and consulting services business units in most major countries around the world including North America, Canada, Mexico, South America (Brazil), Middle East (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait), South Africa, UK, Europe (Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Ireland, Denmark), Asia Pacific (Australia, Japan, Singapore, China/Hong Kong).

Before joining Cisco, Bob was a senior executive with IBM Global Services where he built and managed their Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management consulting and technology practice worldwide. He was also a Senior Partner at BearingPoint with similar responsibilities. Bob holds a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of North Texas with a major area of study in business information systems. He is also a Certified IBM Global Services Business Transformation Consultant, instructor at IBM’s Institute of Advanced Commerce, and public speaker at several UK and European Universities and professional organizations.
Douglas J. Dinon
Advanced Manufacturing Technology Leader, GE Global Research Center

Doug has been with GE Global Research for over 12 years leading manufacturing technical engineering design teams that focus on developing new advanced manufacturing technologies and scaling them up for validation into full rate production. These technologies span from non-traditional machining, ceramics, composites, solar, energy storage, and physics based process modeling for Aerospace, Energy, Water, Healthcare, and Consumer & Industrial GE applications.

As the Site Leader for the new Global Research Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center in Michigan, Doug oversees key programs focused on new manufacturing technologies for production-volume and full-scale components to help GE businesses ensure processes and supply chains are ready for full adoption. The new manufacturing technology center will enable the development of revolutionary manufacturing technologies for next-generation GE products with focus in GE’s Aviation Business. Prior to GE, Doug was with Johnson & Johnson and the US Army. He has maintained a parallel career in the Army Reserves. Total leadership, operational, and supply chain experiences span 30 years; he has recently retired at the rank of Colonel.
John M. Gercak
Vice President-Information Technologies, Eaton Corporation’s Vehicle Group

John M. Gercak is the Vice President-Information Technologies for Eaton Corporation’s Vehicle Group. As the group chief information officer (CIO), he is responsible for leading the global automotive and truck information technologies function for the group. Prior to being named to this role in July 2009, John was the the Director-IT for Eaton’s Truck Group. Gercak joined Eaton in 1997 and progressed in various IT leadership roles within North America and Europe. Prior to joining Eaton, he served in finance, operational, and IT roles for Dana Corporation. Gercak holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in operations management from the University of Toledo.
Craig Giffi
Vice Chairman and US Consumer & Industrial Products Leader, Deloitte LLP

Craig Giffi is a vice chairman and the leader of the U.S. Consumer & Industrial Products Industry practice and the U.S. Automotive Industry practice. Craig is also the chairman of the Global Manufacturing Industry practice of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (DTT) and a principal with Deloitte Consulting LLP in the United States.
In his current capacity, Craig is responsible for organization-wide services for industry sectors including automotive, aerospace and defense; chemical and process; industrial products; consumer products; and retail. In his global manufacturing industry role, Craig drives strategic initiatives to build eminence, grow Deloitte’s industry practice networks, and embed industry knowledge in services to global clients across the sectors.
Craig has primary responsibility for Deloitte’s participation as a member of the Council on Competitiveness where he is a leading a multiyear research initiative around manufacturing competitiveness through industry CEO input. He is also a Trustee of The Manufacturing Institute helping to drive thought leadership regarding manufacturing’s contributions to the American economy and participates actively with the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) on their efforts to shape the debate on the issues impacting manufacturers in the United States and globally.
Craig has a BSBA degree in production and operations management and a M.B.A. in finance and operations management from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. He is the co-author of the book Competing in World Class Manufacturing – America’s Twenty First Century Challenge (Business One Irwin) and has been quoted in feature articles for Fortune Magazine, Business Week, Industry Week and numerous other professional trade magazines.
Tim Hanley
Vice Chairman and US Process & Industrial Products Leader, Deloitte LLP

In his capacity as the industry leader, he works with and advises Deloitte audit, tax, consulting and financial advisory teams serving many of the world’s most significant companies. He also serves as the Leader of Deloitte’s Global Chemicals Affinity group and is a member of the firm’s Global Manufacturing Leadership team. Tim has a strong orientation toward all business aspects of an enterprise, including consulting with top management regarding business plans and strategies, tax planning ideas, and management organizations and philosophies. Prior to joining Deloitte, Tim spent 24 years with Arthur Andersen as an audit partner, advancing to positions managing the Milwaukee audit division and, subsequently, the entire Milwaukee Andersen practice. Tim has been a formal speaker and presenter to many industry organizations, including the 2010 Managing Automation Manufacturing Leadership Summit, the National Directors Institute, Northwestern University’s Masters of Manufacturing program, The Management Association (MRA), and the U.S. China Chamber of Commerce. Michael Jacks
Senior Manager, Logistics Systems, Coca-Cola Refreshments

Michael (Mike) Jacks manages the North American Logistics & Transportation Systems organization for Coca-Cola Refreshments. He has more than 35 years of business experience within the beverage industry. Mike joined Coca-Cola in 1974 and has held multiple positions with increasing responsibility within the areas of sales, distribution and information technology. Positions held include; District Sales Manager, Area Cold Drink Manager, Division Key Account Manager, Regional Distribution Manager, Plant Manager and SAP Material Management Implementation Manager.

Mike’s team is accountable for the selection, deployment and project management of Supply Chain logistics and transportation solutions. Functions within his team’s responsible include warehouse automation; warehouse picking: daily dispatch; route planning; transportation management; load building; merchandiser scheduling; vehicle telematics and logistics reporting.

Mike is a board member of the Technology Association of Georgia, a member of the Aberdeen Research Group Supply Chain Advisory Counsel and in 2007 was one of five finalists in the international Franz Edelman competition that singles out the best Operations Research (O.R.) project by a global organization. He has a degree in both Business Management and Marketing Management.
Iggy Javellana
Senior Director, Application Delivery and Services, Land O'Lakes
Iggy has over 20 years of experience in Information Technology in various industries and joined Land O’Lakes in 2010 in his current role. Prior to joining Land O’Lakes, Iggy held IT leadership positions with Boston Scientific, Invensys, Honeywell, and Ingersoll-Rand in all aspect of IT including implementation of ERP, CRM, PLM solutions and managing Infrastructure. Prior to his roles in industry, Iggy also spent time in consulting with Price Waterhouse and IBM.

Iggy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Management Systems Engineering from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and is APICS and Six Sigma Certified.
Joan Magrath
Vice President, Sales & Engineering, Mack Molding Co.

Joan Magrath, vp, sales & engineering, for Mack Molding, joined the company 24 years ago as account manager, later moving up to business unit director. In that position, she was instrumental in Mack’s explosive growth in the computer and business equipment market during the 1990’s. Under Mack’s new business model, she is now applying the company’s vertical integration of services to manufacturing medical devices and large, complex products across diversified markets. Heading up sales and engineering, Magrath directs program and account management, sales service, and the advanced engineering group at Mack. An alum of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a member of the Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council (MassMEDIC), she continues to make her home in the Bay State with her husband and daughter.
Dan Maheu
President & COO, SMART Papers Holdings LLC

With over 30 years in the pulp and paper industry, Dan has operating, engineering and management experience from commodity paper manufacturing through specialty paper development and manufacturing. He has managed major operating facilities as well as major capital projects in North America.
He is responsible for the development of the distributive generation/smart grid functionality of SMART’s facility in Ohio and is now leading SMART’s move to renewable energy production. He believes smart grid/distributive generation is an emerging opportunity to repurpose energy assets at industrial facilities, increase energy cost control tools for the facility and support improved grid stability.

Dan has a BSME from Cornell University.
Peter G. Martin, Ph D.
Vice President Executive Business Consulting, Invensys Operations Management

Dr. Martin joined The Foxboro Company in the 1970’s and has worked in a variety of positions in training, engineering, product planning, marketing and strategic planning. He left Foxboro to become Vice President at Intech Controls and also at Automation Research Corporation before returning to Invensys in 1996. Since his return he had been VP of Marketing for Foxboro and Chief Marketing Officer for Invensys Manufacturing and Process Systems prior to moving into his current position.

He has authored numerous published articles and technical papers and has written two books: Bottom Line Automation and Dynamic Performance Management: The Pathway to World Class Manufacturing, coauthored Automation Made Easy and is a contributing author to A Guide to the Automation Body of Knowledge and Metrics that Matter.

Dr. Martin holds multiple patents including the patent for Dynamic Performance Measures, Real-Time Activity-Based Costing, Closed-loop business control, and Asset and Resource Modeling, which are the basis for Fortune recently naming him a Hero of U.S. Manufacturing. He was also recently named as one of the 50 Most Influential Innovators of All Time by InTech magazine, as an Invensys Fellow and the Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Society of Automation (ISA).

Dr. Martin has BA and MS degrees in Mathematics and an MA degree in Administration and Management, a Master of Biblical Studies degree, a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, and a PhD in Biblical Studies.
Dennis Pappas
Senior Director, Service Operations, Hologic, Inc

Dennis Pappas joined Hologic in 2000 and currently holds the position of Senior Director of Service Operations, responsible for service operations for Hologic’s global customer community. Pappas has served in customer and field services organizations for over fifteen years, and brings over a decade of management experience to Hologic, where he has been instrumental in establishing one of the most well respected global service organizations in the industry.

He has also led the teams responsible for helping design, implement, and deliver critical technology solutions that have measurably improved service quality and performance while reducing costs for Hologic.

Mr. Pappas holds an MBA from the University of Massachusetts and a BSEE from Tufts University.

Laura V. Raymond
Business Development Executive, Smart Grid, OSIsoft, LLC

With over 28 years in the energy sector, Laura has operating and management experience spanning from oil and gas wellheads through to residential, commercial and industrial natural gas and electricity consumers. Laura has worked both domestically and internationally in Exploration and Production, Power Plant Development and Operations, Wholesale Marketing and Trading, and Retail. Laura joined OSIsoft, LLC in August 2010 as Business Development Executive – Smart Grid. In this role, Laura is actively engaged in assisting utilities and industrials globally make use of the technologies that enable the Smart Grid. She has a keen interest in how the industry will evolve in all aspects - technological, regulatory and cultural.

Previously, as Senior Vice President of Operations and IT for Direct Energy Residential, Laura was responsible for leading Direct Energy’s residential and small commercial retail natural gas and power operations and IT for 3 million customers across North America. This included acquisitions, enrollments, credit, billing, remittance, collections, call centers, customer care, the Program Management Office and IT functions. Laura was also a member of the Senior Executive Group and Operations Risk Committee.

Prior to joining Direct Energy, Laura spent over 18 years with Royal Dutch Shell where she held senior roles with Shell Oil, Shell E&P International, Shell Gas & Power and Shell Trading. Laura also spent 3 years with Exelon as President of Exelon Energy, the company’s deregulated gas and power, commercial and industrial retail business, and Vice President of Marketing & Business Development for Exelon Power Team, the company’s wholesale marketing and trading business.

Laura serves as an Executive Board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star and an Energy Advisor for the Houston Technology Center. Laura earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University and was captain of the first Stanford women’s swimming team to win a national championship title.
David M. Rudzinsky
SVP, Information Services & CIO, Hologic, Inc.

As the Senior Vice President and CIO for Hologic, Inc. Dave is responsible for all aspects of global IT for the company. He has more than 25 years of IT experience with over 20 years in IT Management. Dave has implemented and supported several large business systems and other enterprise applications during that time and has functioned as a project manager for Hologic's global ERP and CRM implementations. A frequent speaker at local and national events, Dave has also served on the Board of Directors for OAUG (the Oracle Applications User Group). Dave also serves on the Governing Body for the CIO Leadership Network and is an active participant in several other user and CIO advisory boards. He holds a B.S. in Business and Management Information Systems from the University of Rhode Island.
Larry Schwartz
President & COO, Okuma America

Larry Schwartz is Chief Strategy Officer of Okuma America Corporation, the US-based affiliate of Okuma Corporation Japan, a world leader in the development of computer numeric controls (CNC) and machine tool technology. Larry has been with Okuma for over 14 years, working in various roles and has over 40 years experience in the manufacturing industry.

He understands the challenges and demands of manufacturing in a competitive global market and is always looking for ways to help customers be more profitable. He was instrumental in the development of the THINC-OSP control, and was the driving force behind Partners in THINC and the Okuma Technical Centers.

Larry is a member of SME, AMT, AMTDA and serves on the imX executive committee.
Vikram Sinha
Vice President and Head of Car Production, Tata Motors

Mr Vikram Sinha, Vice President - Head Manufacturing Operation Pune Plant, TATA Motors, India Mr Vikram Sinha has 34 years of experience in manufacturing industry. During his tenure with TATA Motors he has worked in various areas like Corporate Planning, Strategic Planning and Projects. Before taking over as Head Manufacturing Operation Pune Plant in April 2010 he has worked as Head of Customer Support TATA Motor’s Passenger Car business. During Mr Sinha’s assignment as Head – Customer Support, he had brought lot of changes in customer support by ushering process orientation. He has been instrumental in bringing significant improvement in Customer Satisfaction Index improving JD Power CSI Score. Mr Sinha is B Tech from Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in 1976 and PGDBM from XLRI Jamshedpur in 1981.
Kevin Surace
CEO, Serious Materials

Mr. Surace, Inc. Magazine’s Entrepreneur of the Year, is on a mission to drive energy efficiency in the built environment, bring green jobs and manufacturing back to the US, and bring innovation to industries that had long lost it. As CEO of Serious Materials, Kevin leads the company in its mission to reduce energy usage of the world’s largest contributor, our buildings. Before joining Serious Materials in 2002, Mr. Surace held executive and technical positions with Perfect Commerce, General Magic, Air Communications, National Semiconductor, and Seiko-Epson. He received his degree in electrical engineering technology from Rochester Institute of Technology where he currently serves on the Board of Trustees, and has been awarded 9 patents. Mr. Surace also serves on the boards of Array Converter, Arch Rock, and Zeta Communities.
Jay Timmons
President & CEO, National Association of Manufacturers (NAM)

Jay Timmons is president and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the largest manufacturing association in the United States representing small and large manufacturers in every industrial sector. He became NAM president in January 2011. Mr. Timmons is a leading advocate for the nearly 12 million Americans employed directly in manufacturing, educating the public and policymakers on issues that affect this critical sector of the U.S. economy. He promotes a broad-based “Manufacturing Means Jobs!” agenda for maintaining U.S. competitiveness by lifting unnecessary burdens on manufacturing, including excessive taxation and regulation, the high cost of health care, expensive litigation and soaring energy costs.

He is driven by the principles instilled in him by his roots in the manufacturing town of Chillicothe, Ohio, where his grandfather worked at a Mead plant for nearly four decades and where he witnessed manufacturing’s ability to raise the quality of life for families and communities. Mr. Timmons' knowledge and expertise is valued and respected by influential policymakers on both sides of the aisle in Congress and the Administration. He knows how to navigate the complexities of the policymaking process in the nation’s capital and brings with him an exceptional understanding of manufacturing issues.

Prior to his appointment as NAM president, Mr. Timmons was executive vice president beginning in 2008. In 2005, he joined the NAM as senior vice president of policy and government relations. His previous experience includes serving as chief of staff to Congressman, Governor and Senator George Allen (R-VA) from 1991 to 2002, and a term as executive director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee during the 2004 election cycle. When he first came to Washington in the 1980s, he served as press secretary to Congressman Jim Martin (R-NC) and later Alex McMillan (R-NC).

A passionate advocate for the adoption of companion animals, Mr. Timmons is a member of the Washington Humane Society Board of Directors and served as its chairman from 2006 to 2010. He is also a member of the Business Industry Political Action Committee (BIPAC) Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of Local Finance Solutions, Inc. He attended The Ohio State University and resides in McLean, Va.
CliftonClifton Vann IV
President, Livingston & Haven

As President of Livingston & Haven, Clifton Vann oversees the 63-year-old industrial technology provider with $70 million in sales annually and 150 employees in the Southeastern U.S. Clifton has served as President at Livingston & Haven for nearly 10 years, after serving in several other capacities within the company since 1982. He is currently a member of several advisory boards for market leading manufacturers, including Bosch Rexroth. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from North Carolina State University.

In his leisure time, Clifton can be found performing on stage as a member of the band Charity Case. Charity Case is a five-member band formed solely to raise money for the charity Grin Kids. Each year, Grin Kids sends a plane of terminally ill and chronically handicapped children and their families to Disney World. To date, Charity Case has raised over a half million dollars for this charity.
Jay White
Mobility Architect, First Solar

Jay White is the Mobility Architect for First Solar, Inc. He joined a year and a half ago to bring enterprise mobility into the organization. Jay has designed and built an end-to-end mobility infrastructure, focused on technology independence, to bring the promise of new services and efficiencies using Mobility to realization.

Prior to his tenure with First Solar, Jay held roles including: Global Software Manager, Asia Pacific for Delphi Automotive’s Entertainment and Communications group; Chief Architect, Global Supply Chain & Business Intelligence Solutions Team, Intel Solution Services; Lead Technologist, EDS; College Instructor; and Special Agent, Office of Special Investigations, United States Air Force.

Jay earned a B.S. degree in Biology (with Secondary Education Certification) from David Lipscomb University and a M.A. degree focused on Management of Information Systems and Educational Administration from Ball State University. He is a past President of the Board of directors for a private pre-school and lives with his wife and daughters in Northwest Ohio.
